Eggplants thrive on a balanced diet of essential nutrients, with microelements being crucial for their health and productivity. These tiny yet mighty nutrients, including vitamins, polysaccharides, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids, regulate a myriad of physiological processes. Among them, magnesium stands out as a vital macronutrient that not only boosts the vigor of eggplant fruits but also enhances their quality and disease resistance, reducing the reliance on pesticides.
Our research explores the impact of magnesium-rich water-soluble fertilizers on eggplant growth, offering valuable insights for farmers. Conducted in a Dora-cooperated greenhouse from October 2021 to April 2022, the trial compared two treatments: a magnesium-rich fertilizer and a standard water-soluble fertilizer. The results were impressive, with the magnesium treatment group showing superior growth, yield, and quality metrics.
The study revealed that the magnesium-rich fertilizer significantly increased plant height, stem thickness, chlorophyll content, fruit size, and yield, while reducing nitrate levels in the fruits. This suggests that magnesium not only supports the overall health of the plant but also improves the nutritional balance of the produce.
The benefits of trace elements in agriculture are undeniable. They play a pivotal role in plant metabolism, contributing to enhanced crop quality and yields. Our findings underscore the importance of magnesium in promoting healthy plant growth and development, particularly in eggplants.
